As a white candle
In a holy place,
So is the beauty
Of an aged face.

 

As the spent radience
Of the winter sun,
So is a woman
With her travail done.

 

Her brood gone from her,
And her thoughts as still
As the waters
Under a ruined mill.

거룩한 곳에 있는

하얀 촛불처럼

주름진 얼굴은

아름다와라.

 

겨울날의

뉘엿뉘엿한 햇살처럼

할일을 다 끝낸

여인.

 

아이들은 뿔뿔이 품에서 떠났으나

낡은 물방아간 아래로

그치지 않는 물처럼

할머니는 아직껏 아이들 생각뿐이네
